Today my business baby @makeitshow is a teenager! Today my business baby @makeitshow is a teenager! It’s hard to believe that our first Make It was 13 years ago at the Boonie Doon Community Centre in Edmonton. I took this video when I was visiting my parents over the summer. I remember the first Make It like it was yesterday. My brother and I really had no idea what we were getting into, but luckily 25 makers decided to sign up for a booth. My parents also agreed to run the front door! I was SO nervous no one would come, that I hand delivered flyers to all the houses in the area. Two weeks ago, I made the heartbreaking decision to cancel both our Edmonton and Vancouver shows this year. It’s the second year in a row we haven’t been able to run events. I made this choice based on a number of reasons and considered a lot of different factors and scenarios. When it came down to it, the biggest driving force was the amount of stress I felt navigating the current landscape as a large scale event producer. There’s SO much uncertainty right now, and it was taking a significant toll on my mental health. Being responsible for people’s health and well being HAS to be my number one focus. At the end of the day I can’t confidently put on a show knowing people might get sick…or even worse. Anyhoo, the shows are cancelled which really sucks, BUT that doesn’t mean we aren’t doing our best to support the creative entrepreneurial community this season. Today we’re we announced our new online program Launch It. It’s a live 8-week program that will teach you everything you need to launch a comprehensive digital marketing campaign this season. I’ve teamed up with @wonderful_ida and @dianaluong_ to create an easy to follow formula that will not only help maker thrive online this year, but set them up for many years to come. Enrolment will be open to the public next week. I’m going to celebrate my teenage business by eating cake and reflecting on all the found memories from the last 13 years. Apparently it’s National Grandparents Day! No on Apparently it’s National Grandparents Day! No one prouder than these two to be celebrating their first grandchild. I think they allllmost lost hope that it would ever happen…but it did. Love you guys so much and grateful that Arlo has such amazing grandparents ♥️🥰
Sometimes you only can see how magical life really Sometimes you only can see how magical life really is when you take a step back and realize how all the moments unfolded in the perfect time ✨ Orson asked me to marry him on Sept 7, 2019 while standing by the Brooklyn Bridge. This is the very same spot that I visited as a single lady many times setting an intention to find love. When Orson got down on one knee it was one of the most beautiful, present and surreal moments of my life. 1 year, 11 months and 1 day later our son Arlo was born at home on our bed and delivered by Orson with the help of a 911 operator on speaker phone. No midwife, no doula, just us. #1111 Yesterday we celebrated our 2 year engagement anniversary in the backyard of the 4 plex that Orson and his brother fully renovated in Kelowna. It was one of the most challenging project he’s ever accomplished, and was a big part of our relationship when we first started dating. Being able to enjoy a backyard dinner with our son felt so special. Life isn’t easy, but the more you can trust and surrender to the flow, the less you have to worry. It’s all happening for us…even the tough parts. Anyone else been experiencing magical timing lately?! Please share🙏
