Only a week into 2016, and I’m already feeling that this year is going to be a gooooood one! On New Years Eve I decided to do something I have never done before…stay in! I had a few invites to parties, but I instead opted to stay home and work on my plans for 2016. Weird, I know. I love goal setting, so it was kinda awesome to have the quite space to really visualize what I want my life to be. I also made a plan of how I was going to make it all happen. It’s VERY detailed! When the clock struck midnight I felt a little lonely, but the next morning I went to a brunch party and it was pretty great to be the only one not hungover!
One thing I’ve noticed lately, is a lot of people are selecting a word or two as their theme for 2016. I really love this idea, so I decided to do the same. The words I picked are next level. For every area of my life, I want to take things up a notch so this feels like a perfect way to sum up that intention. I also like the concept of ‘turning pro’ which means you start thinking like a pro would instead of an amateur. Steven Pressfield is one of my favourite authors and he wrote a fabulous book about this concept you NEED to read.
Back in the day, I used to organize regular workshops. I remember living in Edmonton 10 years ago and using my dad’s office boardroom to teach creative entrepreneurs how they could make money doing what they love. Later when I was living in Vancouver, I would use the party room in my Gastown apartment building. It was so much fun and I felt like I was able to help a lot of people with my own experiences. I remember at the end of a workshop I always felt like I was on a massive high.
Last month my good friend Jamie Smith and I were chatting over wine. We are both total business nerds, and one of our favourite things to talk about (other than dating!) is how to help artists and other creative entrepreneurs succeed. Jamie comes from an art and teaching background, so she has a very complimentary still set to my own. She recently moved into a gorgeous studio called THRIVE and holds regular vision board making nights. After going to one, I was immediately inspired to collaborate with Jamie!
I’m sure you’ve already heard stories about the power and magic that can happen when you create a tangible representation of what you want out of life. It’s all based on the law of attraction, which you should definitely know inside and out if you want to make your dreams come true. After making my own vision board with Jamie, we decided to create a day long workshop that would help artists and other creative entrepreneurs use them as a valuable and lucrative tool for their business.
The curriculum we came up with is based on our own entrepreneurial experiences and what we have leaned from in person seminars with Tony Robbins, Marie Forleo, Danielle LaPorte and Oprah (yes, we have both seen Ops live!). Because Jamie and I are marketing nerds, we also both are obsessed with learning and devour books on the subject. Who knows, maybe we need more hobbies!
Anyways, our workshop is called Envision and we will show you how to make and use a vision board that will become your business blueprint. The first one will be January 30th in Vancouver, and we only have room for 10 awesome ladies (sorry guys…we’ll do a co-ed one soon). We are SO pumped about Envision, and know it will be a transformational day that will be a total game changer for you and your biz. Plus we are going to have such a blast! If you feel called, please don’t hesitate because we have such limited room. Buy your ticket here.
Happy 2016 and I’m excited to see you make it happen!
